During the snow storm the muskoxen have been laying down and by the end of the storm, they are all covered with snow. Looking through my binoculars I can’t even find them all. Their thick fur and the wool underneath is so insulating that the powdersnow does not melt when it is landing on them. It is just building up until it serves as a shelter for the animals.
As I am sitting there watching these giants the snow is suddenly moving in front of me.
A huge muskox is rising and shaking its fur to get rid of all the snow. It does not even look like a muskox – more like a white ghost.
