Autumn is rutting season for the red deer and in the woodlands near my home these large animals are gathering in large numbers. In late September and early October I can hear their powerful roars when I am standing on my terrasse in the evening, and it is hard not to pack the photo equipment and head to the forest – it is almost like they are calling.
